He graduated from Civil Engineering Deparment of Yıldız Technical University in 1999. He graduated with a Masters degree in Civil Engineering from Middle East Technical University in 2002. He studied at the PhD program of Texas A & M University for one year in 2004. He graduated from PhD program of Civil and Environmental Engineering at University of Houston, Houston, Texas in 2008. Afterwards, he worked at CivilTech Engineering Inc., Houston, Texas as a water resources engineer between 2008 and 2012. He has over 19 years of experience in field operations and research in a wide range of civil engineering planning and design projects. Project areas include hydrology, hydraulics, drainage works, 1D and 2D flood modeling, reservoir design, dam break analysis, dam safety, pipeline design, GIS applications, coastal modeling, roadway and structural design. His expertise also include numerical modeling of 1D and 2D flow, shock wave modeling due to dam breaches and river flooding, flood routing analysis, environmental hydraulics, sediment modeling, automatic control of flow in canals with Scada systems. He has several publications on hydrological and hydraulic modeling. Mr. Turan got his Professional Engineer and Certified Floodplain Manager licence in the State of Texas, USA. Dr. Turan also worked as the graduate level hydrology course lecturer at the University of Houston’s master program. He is married and has two daughters.
